About UrBrand Studio

Twenty years of building brand strategy around how audiences actually behave, not how the market wishes they did.

The UrBrand Method came from that way of thinking.

Diana Rain is the founder of UrBrand Studio, a senior brand strategy practice based in Los Angeles and serving mid-market and founder-led organizations nationally. This page is the personal layer behind the practice.

The practice.

Diana Rain is the founder of UrBrand Studio. Her work spans 20 years across brand strategy, identity systems, and brand governance, built across two countries and refined for the way mid-market and founder-led organizations grow now.

The UrBrand Method emerged from a way of working, not from a framework adopted from somewhere else. Diana stays close to how the brand strategy field is changing through research, study, and direct work with new tools, new audiences, and new buyer behaviors.

The work has stayed current over 20 years because the field does not sit still, and neither does the practice.

The Story

The story behind the practice.

Six chapters. Each one shaped the way the work is done today.

“You do not have enough time to keep testing and hoping. You have to lay a clear foundation while you are still small, so every brick after that lands in the right place, and the tower you build actually stands.”

01

The Beginning.

University of Art, focused on brand communication. Early work in advertising. The first realization came quickly: the real work happens in the questions that come before the logo, not in the logo itself. That instinct shaped everything that followed.

02

The First Studio.

Tehran, nearly nine years leading a brand and creative agency. The studio grew into a full creative practice serving roughly 30 percent of Tehran’s motor and generator industry, alongside corporate clients across manufacturing, education, and consumer brands. In the final year before moving to the United States, the studio produced a large-volume premium custom calendar series for Coca-Cola.

03

A Sharp Turn.

Circumstances required leaving the studio. Moving to the United States alone. Starting again from zero, in a new language and a new market. The work that came next had to be earned in a context that didn’t know the previous twenty years existed.

04

Rebuilding in America.

Working inside U.S. companies in brand-focused roles. Brand manager, lead designer, creative director. Industries ranging from home and wall decor to growing service businesses. The lesson that surfaced repeatedly: brand strategy and marketing function or fail depending on whether they are actually aligned. Most of the time, they are not.

05

UrBrand Studio.

Founded in Los Angeles in 2022. The name is intentional. Ur stands for your. Your brand. The studio is named after the person it serves. It was built on the feeling of needing a real partner, not a vendor handing over files and disappearing.

06

Today.

The work as it stands now. A senior brand strategy practice for mid-market and founder-led organizations whose brand has outgrown the business.

“You do not have enough time to keep testing and hoping. You have to lay a clear foundation while you are still small, so every brick after that lands in the right place, and the tower you build actually stands.”

Experience and Industries

Where the work
has happened.

Twenty years across industries, two countries, and the full range of organizational sizes. The pattern that holds across all of it: brand strategy built on real audience behavior, applied to organizations at a moment of transition.

Sectors

Mission-driven and healthcare-adjacent organizations, mid-market consumer and service brands, wellness, mental health, furniture and interiors, consulting, healthcare, home services, technology, hospitality, and others.

What I believe about brand strategy.

01

Strategy comes first. Without it, every decision downstream becomes guesswork.

02

Brand strategy is operational work. It changes how a company decides, positions, and grows.

03

The strongest brand systems are built from audience behavior, not internal preference.

04

AI can accelerate synthesis. It does not replace observation, judgment, or direct contact with real people.

05

A brand strategy is only useful if the team can use it after the deck is delivered.

The practice and
the method.

UrBrand Studio is organized around three pillars. Strategy, Design and Implementation, and Coaching and Advisory. Each pillar is built on the same method, scoped separately, and held to the same operating commitments. One method. Every engagement. Built to hold after delivery.

Where the
practice serves.

UrBrand Studio is based in Los Angeles and serves clients nationally across the United States. Engagements are delivered remotely. On-site sessions are available and included in scope for senior engagements. Travel for smaller engagements is scoped separately.

Workshops.

UrBrand Studio leads workshops and speaking engagements on brand strategy, brand governance, and the moments brands outgrow the business. Most run under the Clarity-to-Growth™ speaker series. Notifications go out a few times a year, never more.
